Visitation:
Visitation is a privilege and may be temporarily restricted for an offender or a visitor, if rule violations occur or security concerns exist. Visitation may also be temporarily discontinued during emergency situations or serious incidents, such as escapes or riots. Visits may be denied, revoked or limited when the visit would threaten safety, security or good order of the facility or when visitation rules are not followed. Visitation privileges may be suspended or terminated for inappropriate behavior or misuse of the visitation system. Persons wishing to visit inmates, who have been incarcerated within a six (6) month period from the time they request to visit, will be denied visiting privileges. This excludes relatives of the inmate.
All persons wishing to visit an inmate should carefully read the rules governing visiting at the St. Landry Parish Correctional Center as they may be subjected to a search of their person or items in their possession. The St. Landry Parish Correctional Center will reserve the right to deny any person(s) admittance into the jail if they attempt to introduce contraband of any kind, wear suggestive or revealing clothing, have the odor of an alcoholic beverage on their breath, appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; lack identification or falsify identification. Failure to comply with jail rules during a visit will be just cause to terminate that visit, pending a final decision by the Warden or his designee regarding future visitation privileges.
Visitation is held twice a month, every other weekend. Visitors must be signed in 20 minutes before the close of visitation. No individual between the ages of 13 through 17 will be allowed to visit, unless accompanied by an adult. Visitors will only be allowed to visit one offender per day. Split visits (visits of more than one (offender) shall not be allowed and are grounds to have ALL visitation privileges revoked. All visits are 20 minutes non- contact. A maximum total of three (3) people are permitted to visit at one time. Every visitor must have a valid driver’s license, state I.D. or military I.D.
Visitors are encouraged to leave all personal items in their vehicles and outside of the jail’s security perimeter. The St. Landry Parish Correctional Center, however, assumes no responsibility or liability for personal items brought into the jail by visitors. Items not allowed within the secure areas of the jail include:
Cellular or wireless telephones
Portable 2-way radios
Audio recording devices (unless approved by the Warden)
Camera or Video recording devices
Purses, briefcases or other containers
Any item that would be considered illegal under the laws of the state of Louisiana
