Captain Eddie Thibodeaux
serves as the Director of Training and Professional Development and has 19
years of law enforcement. He is a

Deputies are mandated to attend monthly classes in Domestic Violence,
Sexual Assault, Legal Update, First Aid and CPR, Narcotic Detection and
Identification, Stress Management, Defensive Tactics, Firearm Qualifications and
many other courses all designed to train sheriff's deputies to become some of
the best trained officers and to better serve and protect the public.
Not only does the training
section instruct our deputies but many other departments statewide.
The section assists smaller departments in many aspects of law
enforcement including firearms, defensive tactics, and pepper spray.
Thibodeaux is also an instructor at

instructs civilians in many areas like Operation Life Saver, Self Defense
classes and many other issues, all classes are free of charge.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is proud to have Thibodeaux on
staff; Thibodeaux is the only Self Defense instructor that is recognized by the
National Blackbelt League and the Sport Karate International League as the 2003
World Champion in Self Defense. The
Women's Self Defense class entails awareness and street survival skills which
ends with the participants fighting a padded aggressor.
This makes the course second to none and has the participants using the
skills taught to them in the class in real life scenarios.
The free course is taught in our area schools, civic originations, and
church groups. Over 2,000 teen to
adult women statewide have gone through the class.
SWAT: The SWAT division is comprised of expertly trained individuals who can be called upon when tactical operations are needed. This includes, but is not limited to, a suspect barricaded in a structure, hostage situation or executing a search warrant.
VIP Security: Security is provided for any visiting official/person that may need the service.
