Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz

I am Bobby J. Guidroz , Sheriff of St Landry Parish.  As Sheriff, I am determined to be the professional Sheriff that St Landry Parish deserves.  I am committed to staffing our patrol division with highly trained patrol deputies patrolling the ENTIRE parish, removing drugs off of the streets and out of our children's hands, and making sure that the public is aware of scams in the area as well as criminal activities.  It is my vision that the Sheriff's Department be staffed with well trained professionals that we can all be proud of.  Two of the short term goals that I envision for the Sheriff's Department are as follows:  First, to build a new jail that would accommodate 500 inmates.  The jail that we currently utilize accommodates approximately 220 inmates and stays at full capacity.  Secondly, I have noted a desperate need for a Juvenile Detention/Training Center in St Landry Parish.  I am committed to working with Parish Government officials and others to build and staff such a facility.  One of my long term goals is to build a new Sheriff's Department Office Complex, or purchase an existing building to be used as a Sheriff's Department Office Complex.  The Sheriff Department has grown over the years and will continue to grow, thus, needing a larger facility to accommodate our modernization and growth.

Some of my accomplishments and skills are as follows:

I have over 30 years in the field of law-enforcement and criminal justice with a record of continuous dedicated service, achievement, and professional advancement in a complex environment.

I attained the rank of Lieutenant/Supervisor of State Police Uniform, Gaming Enforcement and Criminal and Administrative Investigative Sections

State Police Spokesperson and Supervisor of the Public Affairs Information Section

Conducted over 100 public speaking appearances throughout the state presenting safety programs and lectures to the construction industry, petroleum industry, various levels of the educational system, and many civic, business, and professional organizations

Other skills include:

• Self Starter with excellent motivation and self discipline.
• Team player with effective and efficient organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to assess and prioritize needs, follow through on assignments, and function well under deadline stress.

I am a lifelong resident of St Landry Parish, married Karen Moreau of Leonville.  We are the parents of three children and four grandchildren.  I thank all of the citizens of St Landry Parish for the opportunity to be your sheriff.
