Tax & Civil

The St Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Tax and Civil Division is lead by Chief  Civil Deputy Sherri Z. McGovern.  Sherri was born in 1972 in Opelousas Louisiana as the second child to Mr. & Mrs. John R Zeringue of Arnaudville.  She and her husband, Steven, have been married for eight years and have one child, Christian, who is five years old.  She attended Leonville High School and graduated in 1990 with honors and as Valedictorian.  She then attended the University of Louisiana in Lafayette where she graduated with a double major in Biology and Accounting.  She worked at a local public accounting firm for four years while attaining her Certified Public Accounting License.  She has performed various job duties in all areas of accounting, auditing, and income taxes.  In 2002, she established her own accounting practice in Opelousas, LA.

The Civil division is responsible for many different duties.  These duties include, but are not limited to:  Tax Collections, serve court/civil documents, collect traffic fines, Human Resources, parish business licenses, and accounting.
