Deputy Chief Paul J. DiCapo brings 26 years of Law Enforcement, Legal and Courtroom experience to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department.
Paul is a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish. He attended Melville High School where he resided until 1982.
Paul went to work for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department in March 1984. He worked as a patrolman until he was reassigned to the St. Landry Parish District Attorney’s Office in 1987. In October 1990 Paul was employed by the District Attorney’s Office where he continued as Chief Investigator.
While working for the District Attorney’s Office Paul worked closely with all of the law enforcement agencies of St. Landry Parish as well as the Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Attorney General’s Office and the FBI. Even though Paul has handled many investigations his most memorable one is the murder for hire in the Whiteville Community. George Paul (Joey) Smith and Albert Lavilais were convicted for First Degree Murder.
In November 2006 Paul came back to work for the Sheriffs Department.
