The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Tax and Civil Division is lead by Chief Civil Deputy Sherri Z. McGovern. She is a licensed CPA with degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She worked at a local public accounting firm before establishing her own practice. Her background provides a depth of knowledge and understanding of accounting, auditing, and financial planning. She has great leadership skills and managerial abilities. She is responsible and accountable for all activities of the business office, human resources division, payroll, fleet services, civil process services, collection of taxes, fines, bonds, parish licenses, and any other fees designated by the Sheriff. She handles all banking agreements, prepares an annual operating budget, and works with the auditors for the annual audit. She also acts as the business, financial liaison Officer with section supervisors, the public, elected officials and others as necessary for providing professional services to the public. She is honored to serve the citizens of St. Landry Parish by working at the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Sales are conducted on Monday’s at 10:00 a.m. for movables and on Wednesday’s at 10:00 a.m. for real estate in the lobby of the St. Landry Parish Courthouse, as advertised. Sheriff sales for movables are advertised on Wednesday’s (twelve days prior to the date of sale) in the legal section of the Daily World. Sheriff sales for real estate are advertised on a Friday at least thirty days prior to the date of sale and again on the Sunday preceding the date of sale in the legal section of the Daily World. All payments must be made the day of the sale by 2:00 p.m. Acceptable forms of payment are personal check, certified funds, or cash. No credit cards or electronic funds are accepted. The Civil Department is located in the St. Landry Parish Courthouse, 118 S. Court Street, Suite 121.
